Sol Sisters Rising

Sol Sisters Rising, LLC is committed to elevating the profile of women of color in film. Recognizing a disparity in opportunities for women of color filmmakers and actors, we create unique opportunities for recognition and support for films that draw attention to the experiences of women of color. Sol Sisters Rising endeavors to close the gap where racial and gender disparities meet in the film industry by heightening the visibility and possibilities for women of color-themed films. We are equally invested in the success of films addressing a diverse range of social justice issues that affect people of color and their communities.

Sol Sisters Rising's screening of Shola Lynch's documentary film Free Angela and All Political Prisoners (2012) was a huge success! We are pleased to share the Q&A portion of the event, with our special guests Angela Davis and Sidra Smith. Sol Sisters Rising's own Gaye Theresa Johnson shined as panel moderator.
